Despite growing so much as a team, our vision has not changed. We focus on not only being a competitive robotics team, but we are also inspiring others in our community to explore STEM—to help others create and design something, even from their wildest dreams. Moreover, we hope that our outreach can leave a lasting impact on everyone—those in our local community, and even those on the other side of the world. We hope that our team will come out of this program forever changed by FIRST.
We aim to not only educate high school students about STEM and provide them opportunities to expand their horizons but also to impact the local and global community through outreaches. Here at WVR, we value progress. Our members are driven by ambition, teamwork, and curiosity. Although there are different divisions in our team, Incorporating students with STEM or Business interests, we all come together to share ideas to build an impactful organization and a competitive robot.
Unlike other FRC teams, we started in our captain’s garage with no affiliation with any high schools. We did not have access to any advanced technology and facilities that other teams did. However, since then, we have constantly focused on expanding our team and knowledge. Only recently in the Fall of 2019 have we been able to move into a warehouse dedicated to our organization, gain the help of a non-alumni mentor, and become partially affiliated with Walnut High School.
